Caprese garlic bread is so simple to make! It all starts with a loaf of bakery bread that's spread with an easy homemade garlic and herb butter, then topped with fresh mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, fresh basil, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze.

Ingredients

Garlic herb butter

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried basil

Caprese bread

  • 1 loaf crusty Italian bread sliced in half
  • 12 oz fresh mozzarella thinly sliced
  • 2 medium tomatoes thinly sliced
  • handful fresh basil leaves thinly sliced
  • generous drizzle of balsamic glaze

Instructions

Prepare

  • Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.

Make garlic herb butter

  • In a small mixing bowl, add the garlic herb butter ingredients: 1/2 cup unsalted butter, 6 cloves garlic, 1 tsp garlic salt, 1 tsp onion powder, and 1 tsp dried basil
  • Stir well to combine.

Spread onto bread

  • Add the halves of 1 loaf crusty Italian bread to the prepared baking sheet, and generously spread butter mixture over the cut sides of the bread.

Add cheese and bake

  • Top the garlic butter with slices of 12 oz fresh mozzarella, so they're evenly distributed.
  • Bake in preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is lightly toasted.

Assemble

  • Remove bread from the oven and set aside.
  • Top with 2 medium tomatoes and a handful fresh basil leaves, then a generous drizzle of balsamic glaze.
