These sweet strawberry mojitos are a summery twist on a classic mojito cocktail, and are perfect for all your warm-weather gatherings! This recipe includes both small and large batch instructions.
This is one of my Drink recipes I know youโll want to keep on hand!
It may not be officially Spring, but now that the weather is warming up, I’m craving a taste of Spring and Summer… especially icy cold drinks!
The bright and fresh flavors of this mojito recipe are a true pick-me-up, and strawberries are easy to find (and taste best) during the warmer months.
Of course, you can serve these strawberry mojitos year-round if youโd like, itโs a really versatile drink recipe!
There are plenty of ways to change this recipe up if youโd like, and Iโve included a large batch version in the โchef tipsโ right below the recipe instructions, in case youโre having a party and donโt want to make just 4 cocktails at a time.
What do I need to make this recipe?
- Strawberries – make sure the fruit is nice and ripe, then hull them (or slice off the green tops) and dice them.
- Limes – lime adds a tartness that balances the sweetness of the drink.
- Honey – instead of using a traditional simple syrup, I like to use honey. The floral sweetness goes very well with the other drink ingredients.
- Mint – fresh mint is absolutely classic and necessary for a mojito cocktail.
- Club soda – this adds a delightful fizziness to the drink.
- White rum – you may know this as clear rum, but it’s simply rum that hasn’t been aged in barrels. You can use any brand you’d like, although I typically use Bacardi.
How to make strawberry mojitos?
This is just an overview; the full ingredients and directions are in the recipe card toward the bottom of this post.
- Muddle. Add strawberries, lime, honey, and mint leaves to a glass and smash with a muddler.
- Add ice. You can use any kind of ice you prefer.
- Add rum. This recipe doesn’t use a ton of rum, but just enough to give it a little kick.
- Top off. Divide the club soda evenly among the glasses, topping off the drink.
- Garnish. This is optional, but feel free to add a strawberry, lime slice, etc.
Helpful Tip!
Fresh mint leaves are the calling card of a classic mojito cocktail. While you can make this drink recipe without the mint, itโs not really a mojito anymore, so I do highly recommend picking up some mint from the grocery store.
Variations of this recipe
- Strawberries โ this recipe will work well with fresh or frozen berries, so feel free to use whichever type you have available. If using frozen, thaw them in the refrigerator before using.
- Club soda โ feel free to use your favorite flavorless sparkling soda/water for this recipe. Seltzer or sparkling mineral water are two great alternatives.
- Honey – instead of honey, you could use agave nectar, or a simple syrup (this can be found in the aisle of most grocery stores where the mixers for cocktails are).
- Shaken โ if youโd prefer to use a cocktail shaker, add the strawberries, lime slice, honey, and mint leaves to the shaker. Muddle the mint leaves, then top with ice and rum. Shake, then strain into serving glasses. Top it off with the club soda, garnish, and serve. This isnโt traditional, and wonโt have as much of a layered appearance, but will still taste delicious.
- Alcohol-free โ if you would like to make this into a โmocktailโ, replace the white rum with an equal amount of additional club soda, or try adding some lime or cranberry flavored seltzer water.
FAQ’s
You donโt need a fancy tool to muddle the mint and sugar, although an inexpensive tool like a muddler can be handy. You can use the handle of a wooden spoon, mortar and pestle, dowel rod, etc. If my muddler isnโt available, I always reach for my wooden spoon handle and it works just as well!
Mojitos are notoriously citrusy and slightly sweet. This version adds a bit more sweetness from the strawberries. However, youโre free to add additional sweetness by adding more strawberries, using a simple syrup (store-bought or homemade), or use more honey.
Making mojitos ahead of time
Mojitos are a drink thatโs best made fresh right before serving, however at least they come together quickly!
Storage
Any leftover cocktails should be stored in the refrigerator and consumed within 1-2 days.
My Favorite Muddler!
I really love the grooves on this muddlerโฆ it works SO well, and is easy to clean!

Chef Tips
- This recipes makes 4 cocktails.
- Please feel free to adjust the amount of rum if you prefer a stronger drink.
Large batch instructions:
- You can make a large batch with any multiple of the recipe, you just need to multiply all the ingredient amounts by the same number, and you’ll want to make sure you have a large enough pitcher to hold everything.
- To a large pitcher, add the strawberries, lime slices, mint leaves, and honey. Muddle.
- Pour in the rum and club soda. Stir together, then cover and chill for several hours, or up to 1-2 days.
- When ready to serve, stir really well, then pour the contents of the pitcher over ice into glasses. Top off glasses with an extra splash of club soda, add garnishes and serve!
