Cool down with the ultimate blueberry lemonade! Homemade blueberry syrup mixed with refreshing lemonade, topped off with some bubbly club soda!
This is one of my Drink recipes I know youโll want to keep on hand!
Summer may be officially over, but I like to serve summery drinks year round! They’re cool, bubbly, and fun to drink.
I love the sweet homemade blueberry simple syrup (plus the fun pink/purple color it gives the drink), mixed with the tangy tartness of the lemonade, and the bubbly fizz from the club soda… it’s the perfect combination!
This blueberry lemonade is so perfect for entertaining! Imagine you and your guests, having fun while holding an ice cold glass of this lemonade.
Since it’s non-alcoholic, the kids can enjoy it too! My daughter always referred to this as “the pink drink” when she was younger.
How to make sparkling blueberry lemonade?
This is just an overview; the full ingredients and directions are in the recipe card toward the bottom of this post.
- Heat water and sugar. Over medium heat, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
- Add blueberries.
- Boil. Boil for about 5 minutes, until blueberries are breaking down.
- Strain. A fine mesh sieve is great for this. Let cool.
- Add concentrate.
- Pour in club soda. Add soda and water, being careful that the pitcher doesn’t overflow from the fizz.
- Chill. Cover and chill for a few hours, or until cold.
- Add syrup to glass. Fill it up about 1/4 of the way.
- Add ice and lemonade.
- Add club soda. Just a splash to top it off.
- Garnish. If desired, add a lemon slice, a couple of blueberries and a sprig of mint.
Helpful Tip!
Garnishes are always optional, but with drinks they add such a fun and bar/restaurant-style look!
Variations of this recipe
- From scratch – I usually make this with lemonade concentrate, or a bottle of pre-made lemonade, to make this drink even easier… but if you want to make the lemonade from scratch, the full directions for that are below the recipe in the “Chef Tips” section.
- Frozen blueberries – we pretty much always have fresh blueberries on hand (our son is obsessed with berries), but in case you don’t have any, frozen blueberries will also work.
- Other sparkling options – instead of club soda, feel free to use seltzer, sparkling water, or even lemon lime soda (although this will make the lemonade pretty sweet).
- Alcohol – if you wanted to add a splash of clear liquor, I certainly won’t stop you! Vodka, silver or white rum, or tequila are great options. To add fizz and alcohol, try some champagne or prosecco!
FAQ’s
Yes! You can take the method of making the blueberry simple syrup and use any of your favorite, or seasonal fruits, to make a flavored syrup. Strawberries and raspberries are two of our favorites!
You can serve this blueberry lemonade two ways. Both are equally delicious, it just comes down to how you want the drink to look.
- You can pour the blueberry simple syrup into the lemonade pitcher and mix it all together. Then just pour into individual serving glasses and garnish with a few blueberries, slices of lemon and sprig of mint.
- Or you can go for the ombre look, like I did in these photos. Just fill a glass about 1/4 of the way full with blueberry simple syrup, add some ice to a glass, then slowly pour in lemonade, top with a splash of club soda, and garnish with blueberries, slices of lemon, and a sprig of mint.
Making blueberry lemonade ahead of time
While I don’t recommend making the whole pitcher ahead of time, you can absolutely make the simple syrup ahead.
Just store it in the refrigerator, covered, for up to a week.
Storage
Leftover lemonade should be covered and stored in the refrigerator. Drink it within a week for the best flavor.
The club soda will go flat, so when you serve it, just add a splash of new club soda to each glass.
Recipe was originally published in June of 2016, but has been updated in September 2021 with new photos and additional information.

Carrie says
Hi this looks delicious. I plan on making this for a baby shower. I have about 15 people coming should I do the recipe x6?? Also, what could I add to this to make it alcoholic??
The Chunky Chef says
Hi Carrie ๐ As written, this recipe makes about 8-9 cups. You could add some vodka to this, the amount is totally up to you and your guests, since it wouldn’t add any flavor, just the boozy kick ๐ For 15 people, I’d plan on people having at least 2 drinks, so that’s 30 servings. I would 4x-6x the recipe just to be safe.
Julia says
Did I miss something? Did you buy pink lemonade or how did you make it pink?
The Chunky Chef says
Hi Julia, I explained in the post itself that the blueberry syrup is what makes the drink have the pink color (purple syrup mixed with lemonade is what makes it pink instead of purple).
Sarah says
Thank you for sharing. This looks amazing.
Jessica says
I’d love to make this for a baby shower. How many recipes should I make to fill a 2-3 gallon drink dispenser?
The Chunky Chef says
Hi Jessica ๐ I would double this recipe to make about a gallon. So for a 2-3 gallon jug, I’d 4-6x the recipe.
Jessica Lossing says
Thank you! Are frozen blueberries going to change the taste of the finished product too much if I use them for the syrup?
The Chunky Chef says
It shouldn’t ๐ Frozen berries are great substitute in the off-season months!
Cindy Magee says
