Yesterday I was nominated for a Liebster Award by Sailor/Genay… so first off I’d like to thank her… THANK YOU 😀 Now I know most of you are sitting there thinking, “ummm what the bleep is it?”. I didn’t know either since I’m a blogging noob lol. So I looked it up and found this link with the rules and guidelines HERE. Basically it’s a chain letter type of thing… but a good one! It’s an opportunity to meet other bloggers, learn more about them, and in turn let them learn more about you. I love to see bloggers helping out other bloggers 🙂
This award is mainly for fellow new blogs, such as mine, with just a few followers. The gist of it is that you’re asked a series of questions, you answer them in a post (like this one lol), a pose your own set of questions to ask, then link to several new blogs that you’d like to send the award on to.
Alright, so here are my questions I’ve answered 🙂
What artist or song sums up your childhood?
Hmm that’s a tough one… I’d have to say Madonna. I grew up dancing around in my leotard with my friends that lived on my street, having a blast looking like an idiot, to songs like Papa Don’t Preach, Lucky Star, Borderline, Cherish, etc. To this day if I hear one of the songs from The Immaculate Collection, I’m transported back to the early 90’s.
What is your most embarrassing moment?
Man… if you know me… you know that if you look up the word Klutz in the dictionary, there will be a picture of me as the description. Well, there should be anyway lol. I do things to embarrass myself, daily… that’s right folks… daily. But, I suppose I should pick one that has left an impact on me… I’m going to say it was back in the 4th grade. I had recently had a surgery on my neck and was in a half body cast (long story short… it SUCKED). Obviously I couldn’t ride the bus, so my Mom had to come pick me up from school every day. Because the cast went down to my waist, I had to wear bigger shorts to accommodate the larger waistline. Well one day after school, and thankfully, after most of the other kids had left, I walked outside with my Mom and my shorts slipped down past the cast to my actual waistline…. and yep, they fell to my feet. The worst part was that I couldn’t bend over in the cast (was fairly top heavy lol), so I had to stand there freaking out waiting for my mom to pull my pants. Not my favorite moment lol.
What country is on your bucket list to visit?
Umm, all of them! Seriously, I want to visit so many places… Italy, Spain, Ireland, Iceland, Africa, Japan, China, Australia, the list goes on and on. If I had to narrow it down to just one, I’d say Italy. The food, the wine, the culture, the architecture, did I mention the food and wine?!
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Not to let yesterday take up too much of today. The past is just that, the past. Learn from the mistakes that you will inevitably make.
Favorite book that you think everyone should read?
A Boy’s Life by Robert R. McCammon… it’s a great book. Or Twilight Eyes by Dean Koontz… or The Stand by Stephen King… just read… anything. Reading is amazing 🙂
Bill Nye the Science Guy or Neil DeGrasse Tyson?
Bill Bill Bill Bill… Bill Nye the Science Guy!! I loved watching his show as a kid 😀
What would your life motto be and why?
That standing out is actually a good thing. Obviously I’m a woman, which in and of itself doesn’t make me stand out… but I’m also 6’4. No, I’m not kidding, and that’s not a typo. I truly am 6 feet 4 inches tall. I’ve been this tall since I was 14 or 15. Not exactly the age where standing out is what you want. It was hard, I hated it… I hated not being able to buy pants from Kohl’s like everyone else, I hated being stared at, I hated the people who point and whisper like you can’t hear them, I hated having big feet, I hated not fitting into normal school desks, I hated being 6” taller than any of the cute guys in my school. But as I’ve grown older I’ve realized that standing out is a good thing. Sure I still get the looks and whispers, usually a look and smile from me is enough to make them stop. Yeah I still can’t buy pants in normal stores and have big feet, but there’s the internet for those things. I managed to nab myself a husband who’s 6’7, so I don’t need to worry about any cute guys being shorter than I am. Being unique is so much better than being a carbon copy of everyone else… something I’ll be telling my daughter as she grows taller and taller 🙂
Do you snooze your alarms or immediately get up?
I get up immediately… I think I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve hit snooze lol. Don’t get me wrong… I’m not much of a morning person. Before my coffee or hot tea, I’m a zombie, stumbling around grunting instead of talking, hair completely in a frizzy tangled mess. But once I’m up, I’m up 🙂
Favorite Disney movie?
Growing up, it was The Little Mermaid… I wanted to be Ariel so badly. Now I’ve seen quite a few more Disney movies (I mean A LOT), and I think my favorite to date is probably Brave. Mainly because the princess is a tomboy who wants her independence and in the course of the movie, learns how important family is and how key it is to listen to each other.
Candles or Air Freshener?
Candles all the way. I love candles so much that I’m dabbling in making them 🙂 I burn candles quite a bit and I like a good scent, but not one that is so strong and “in your face”… those give me headaches. I prefer soy candles to parrafin.
If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would spend the money on?
I’d pay off our house, the truck, and all debts, set money aside for both kids to go to college… then I’d pay off my family’s houses and debts. I’d build a house on a nice chunk of land and keep some in savings earning interest. I’d definitely donate a good amount to various charities as well.
Now I suppose I should list some random facts about me…:
- I have 2 kids, one daughter and one son… I want another kid at some point 🙂
- My handwriting is a hybrid of cursive and print, plenty of people can’t read it lol.
- My favorite number is 4… I have no idea why.
- My eyes are hazel, but change from brown to green depending on my mood.
- I’m fairly OCD, but not about anything that would help me (like cleaning, ugh).
- I listen to all types of music, ranging from Frank Sinatra to Marilyn Manson… just depends on my mood at the time.
- I used to drink pop constantly… but since January I have only had it a handful of times… just tea and water for me most of the time.
- Speaking of tea… I have an addiction to sweet tea.
- Until I was 22, I hadn’t cooked nearly at all. My Mom is a great cook, I just never had any inclination to learn. Once I moved out, I realized I had to be able to cook and I taught myself by watching the Food Network and a lot of trial and error.
- I drive a truck most of the time, and I love it.
- I’m a gun-enthusiast… yes I am trained, yes I am safe, and yes I am responsible… always.
Okay it’s my turn to ask some questions now… mwahahahahaha….
