This rich and creamy no churn ice cream is studded with flecks of vanilla bean and laced with warm Bourbon, for a tempting treat that’s perfect year round!
Definitely not an ordinary vanilla ice cream… this no churn ice cream is loaded with vanilla and Bourbon flavors for a great all-weather dessert! ย Soon to be a family favorite, you’ll love how easy it is to make… just 4 ingredients!
Ice cream is a great year-round dessert, especially when you add some warm/smoky bourbon to it!
Bourbon is one of those liquors we pretty much always have on hand here in our house… J and I both like to sip Bourbon over ice to relax, it’s great to ease a sore throat, and let’s not forget these amazing recipes that use Bourbon!
Originally, I had planned to make a traditional ice cream, with my ice cream maker… but then the more I thought about it, I realized I didn’t want to make a recipe that some of you might not be able to make without purchasing a special kitchen appliance.
Enter, no churn ice cream! ย Literally 4 ingredients, 10 minutes, and a little bit of patience (obviously it has to freeze)… that’s all it takes to enjoy great homemade ice cream!
This no churn ice cream is so velvety and rich… full of sweet vanilla flavor with the subtle warm kiss of the Bourbon. ย I purposely didn’t add a TON of Bourbon, as I wanted it to be a rich back-note of flavor, plus alcohol doesn’t freeze, so I needed to keep the content at a perfect balance so the ice cream could solidify.
Feel free to use any Bourbon that you like here… I made this with our favorite, Woodford Reserve ๐
I like the ice cream plain, but it’s also perfect with some salted caramel sauce drizzled decadently over the top!
Feel free to enjoy this no churn ice cream as a treat on it’s own, or alongside some of your favorite desserts. ย My personal favorite choices are:

I do have a small electric ice cream maker. I wonder if this recipe would also work using the machine?
The Chunky Chef says
This recipe wasn’t developed or designed to use in an ice cream maker, since that would require a custard.

Best vanilla ice cream Iโve ever had. Definitely a crowd pleaser! I make it often & donโt like to share it ๐
Kate says
This is so delicious, it is silky and dense, kind of like a gelato. I am afraid that being so easy to make, I could get in to real trouble. ๐ฅด

Amanda, I’m looking to make a semifreddo with the bourbon vanilla and pumpkin ice cream. Does this harden enough to slice? I made a diff recipe and it was too soft to slice but awesome. let me know. Thanks
The Chunky Chef says
Hi Jason, I would say this is softer than a traditional ice cream, but it frozen enough, it would be sliceable ๐

Made this for a cookout tonight. I was a little iffy about how it would set up – I have had more compliments tonight – and been told how much better it is than store bought. A total keeper!ย

Could I use scotch whisky instead??
The Chunky Chef says
I haven’t tested it, but I think that would be okay.

Eating vanilla bourban ice cream right now in San Sebastian, Spain. They sell it at a local market by the half gallon or 2.5 liters to be exact for only 3 euros. Dirt cheap. Better than any ice cream I’ve had in the USA. Simply wonderful.
